Ljungberg favorite to win the Guldbollen
Fredrik Ljungberg is the betting companies favourite to win the Guldbollen (Golden Ball) award. Unibet and Ladrokes are no longer taking bets that the Arsenal midfielder will win the award.
Unibet told that large amounts had been placed on Ljungberg before the betting was closed.
"We are going to lose a large amount", said Unibets marketing manager Christian Bönnelyche to Expressen who is certain Ljungberg will win the award. "We are confident that Ljungberg will win"
The Guldbollen (Golden Ball), the award given to Sweden's best footballer of the year, will be announced at an awards ceremony on Monday. The winner is decided by a jury comprising representatives from Aftonbladet and the Swedish Football Association.
Ljungberg last won the award in 2002 but faces competition in the face of fellow player Marcus Allback who is the Aftonbladet readers choice for the award.
